The Show Must Go On - Boticelli and his Time
The Show Must Go On - Boticelli and his Time
2023
In 2021 the world was a mess, and so was FIF's documentary project on the "Boticelli and his Time - Masterworks from the Uffizi" at the Hong Kong Museum of Art.
Social unrest, global Covid-19 pandemic, and administrative red tape had derailed their earlier plans to focus on the exhibition itself.
So we patiently picked up the pieces and created a new solid narrative for a 60 minute+ documentary that would give a full picture to the project, and give a voice to the different partners and artists involved, including world renown cineast Andrew Lau, pianist Niu Niu, Myriam Yeung, Eason Chan, Renée Fleming, Xuefei Yang, Leon Ko to name only a few.
The quality of the full documentary led it to be broadcast on several Asia cable channels and on Cathay Pacific's in-flight entertainment in Chinese and English.

Healthy Human Global Project - Hong Kong
Healthy Human Global Project - Hong Kong
2022
"Based in Hong Kong, the Centre for Immunology & Infection, or C2i, is a translational research centre adopting innovative strategies to confront and mitigate the impact of emerging infectious diseases, and transform Hong Kong into a global hub of knowledge and research..."
In time of Covid-19 crisis, long-term research projects might not be the rage, but they are keys for faster and better response for inevitable future pandemics.
We helped C2i to create 2 videos:
1. A public video to call for volunteers to participate to the "Healthy Human Global Project - Hong Kong"
2. A corporate video to present the "Healthy Human Global Project - Hong Kong" to government, academic, partners, and potential staff.
Call for Volunteers
2022
"Would you like to be part of a not-so-distant future where treatment are specifically designed for each one of us? A future in which treatments would be more efficient and better suited for our own body.
The Centre for Immunology & Infection, or C2i, is launching an ambitious project in Hong Kong that could not only benefit local public health, but affect the world’s population at large through personalised precision medicine."

Youth Outreach
2021
While preparing to launch Hongkong Land HOME FUND with an initial injection of HK$ 100 million, our long-time client Hongkong Land reached to us to direct a video that would be informative and inspiring.
Filmed in just half a day we quickly blended in with Youth Outreach amazing people to gently steer their boundless energy to create a dynamic yet controlled filming.
ALOFT
2021
Did you know that the first model electric vehicles dates from 1828?
Electric Vehicle charging has gone a long way since...
With a growing climate crisis and plenty of practical EV to choose from, one unsuspected challenge is the implementation of charging stations.
More specifically, parking spaces without a wall to mount on.
Fear not, Cornerstone Technology to the rescue with this innovative overhead EV charger.
Recycle for Rewards
2021
There is no denying that the Plastic Crisis is a most urgent matter. But merely adding collection stations won't do much since batches are more than often contaminated and simply discarded in landfill.
Cornerstone Technologies ask Filmages to create a clear, informative, and compelling video to promote their Reverse Recycling Machine, and their partnership with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
With very litlte filming time, we used a combination of various aerial, macro, underwater, and gimbal cameras, with the addition of motion graphics.
If we have done our job properly, you too will pay attention when disposing of your plastic bottles...and get paid for it!
Foundation 2018
2018
In times when large corporations continue to push profits ahead of ethics, it's always heartwarming to watch La Rose Noire support their workers and the community through CSR and charitable activities.
We documented the La Rose Noire Foundation vocational training programmes by interviewing the students, alumni and employers.
Besides capturing moments from their latest graduation ceremony, our cameraman found out what it felt like to be totally covered in bees!
Gala Le Centenaire
2018
When Le Souvenir Français approached us to create a movie for their annual gala fundraising dinner we knew that it was going to be a tough sell.
Look around, war memorials and the wellbeing of ex-servicemen are not exactly hot topics at the moment.
So we put our communication skills into action to help a cause that gives back to those who honoured their country in their service.
The fundraising efforts were a great success when our little Paul and Mei characters turned an otherwise formal dinner upside down and struck a strong emotional chord in the audience.
Thematic Funds
2017
Where there are a handful of generous donors, there are a million more NGO's in need of support. But how to sort the chaff from the wheat, ensuring these NGOs have sustainable programmes with thorough planning and accounting processes that will make the most of this funding?
This is the mission of Swiss Philanthropy Foundation.
During a 4-day "Thematic Funds" workshop dedicated to Youth Employment in Hanoi, Vietnam, SPF made sure that their handpicked NGO partners could make the greatest impact in the field with the right backing from their donors.
Through the animation of hand-drawn concept boards, brainstorming sessions and field trip coverage, and some key interviews, Filmages edited this piece to help SPF reach out to even more generous donors worldwide.
Chocolate 2016
2016
La Rose Noire has grown in every direction over the years, and Filmages joined them on a journey back to where it all began.
This movie presented a unique challenge as we documented a complex subject over several countries with lots of different elements, and people, involved. We needed to balance a lot of information to stay in control of the story.
Aside from understanding the technical elements of the chocolate making process, we kept focus on the core message - why La Rose Noire chose to make their own couverture.
Foundation 2016
2016
Since their doors first opened for business, La Rose Noire has struck a balance between their business and humanitarian activities in the Asia Pacific region.
They know that every effort counts when managing a profitable business as well as corporate social responsbility, with nothing spared when it comes to improving the quality of life for the next generation.
To honour their commitment to this cause, we introduce how LRN Foundation support education and training programmes in developing communities.

One can expect nothing short of the spectacular upon entering the Peninsula, and this LoveArt instalment was no exception.
A hulking machine that danced with light in the middle of the neo-classical lobby was a surprisingly elegant sight to behold.
Our cameras had to play along to find the right angles that captured it's unique movement.

A hike is always challenging, having to hike and shoot is even more challenging. That is what we had to do for Leitner Ropeways, as there are no roads along most of the 5.7km cable car trail. In addition to this we shot all the components of the internal workings of the cable car & strapped a Go Pro to capture the view as if you were in the cable car too.
We then sent all the footage to Leitner, for them to create an edit for all of their cable cars from around the world.
World’s Top Chefs series: Umberto Bombana
World’s Top Chefs series: Umberto Bombana
2014
Chef Umberto Bombana tells us about culinary inspiration, Marc Chagall’s painting, and stealing cherries…
8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana is an Italian restaurant in Alexandra House, Central. In 2012 it became the only Italian restaurant outside of Italy to receive 3 Michelin Stars.
Classic Fine Foods is the market leading importer and distributor of fine ingredients, serving the vast majority of five-star hotels and high-end restaurants in Asia, with an expanding presence in the Middle East and Europe.
To pay tribute to their favourite Chefs, CFF have started a “World’s Top Chefs series”, with a first movie about Alvin Leung from Bo Innovation.
Creating a second installment for this series was a challenge for us as we wanted to take a different approach, maintaining the same level of quality and consistency required to build a series.
Needless to say, we had a lot of fun creating this video! We will let you be the judge: if you watch this video and your taste buds do not respond, either you've just eaten or we failed.
We would like to thank Opera Gallery Hong Kong for their support.
110th Anniversary
2014
In celebration of their 110th anniversary and their long-standing relationship with this great city icon, HK Tramways approached Filmages to produce a series of promotional videos.
You can watch a shorter version of the movie, which was made as an opening trailer for the French Film Festival.

Ermenegildo Zegna's tailor workshop at Landmark more than measures up to to most discerning tastes...this video encapsulates the sartorial elegance of Italian tailoring and service.
World’s Top Chefs series: Alvin Leung
World’s Top Chefs series: Alvin Leung
2013
For this movie, we were given total carte blanche on the creative.
We wanted to stay away from the tired style of the step-by-step recipe video, but at the same time, we also wanted to avoid being purely abstract. We put Chef Alvin from Bo Innovation into the context of his hometown, as this segment will address a predominantly International audience, who may look to choose Hong Kong as their next gastronomic destination.

Shortly after this movie was released, Alvin Leung was selected as one of the renowned judges for MasterChef Canada, the popular reality/cooking show, and the producers asked us the permission to use some of the footage we produced with Alvin for the show's trailer. Alvin’s legendary showmanship is great fun to watch, as he is definitely not mincing words!

Bamboo Schools
2010
Continuing its support for Matthieu Ricard’s global humanitarian organization, Karuna Shechen, Filmages produced a short documentary featuring the low-cost, high-educational impact of Bamboo Schools.
The goal of the Bamboo Schools project is to bring education to children from disadvantaged communities in Nepal. Beginning in 2000, the project now operates 8 Bamboo Schools, of which 3 have been built with Karuna Shechen’s financial aid, providing free education to around 15,000 students.
The film follows the initiator of this project explaining his life’s mission, and how, with a little help from some friends, he can change the future for many Nepalese children.
Memories
2010
Over time the American Club became a lot more than a home-away-from-home for US expatriates.
It became a place where all expatriates and locals alike could socialise, network, and create a friendly atmosphere with an american twist.
It rightfully became part of Hong Kong's heritage, and the American Club wanted to capture the voice of their long-standing members and their fondest memories.
Bad breath for Hong Kong people
Bad breath for Hong Kong people
2009
Did you know that Hong Kong only enjoys 41 days of "clean" atmosphere per year according to the World Health Organisation air quality standards?
Clean Air Network is a think tank that has been pushing hard for our politicians to look at hard facts; The most harmful pollution for Hong Kong people doesn’t come from across the border, it is our own roadside emissions that are killing us!
And it not only costs human lives, it is also very expensive for our “developed” society.
Filmages helped to raise the red flag by combining experts’ interviews, testimonials, educational motion graphics, and expressive sound effects.
Equestrian Olympics 2008 memoir video
Equestrian Olympics 2008 memoir video
2008
Let's say it wasn't just the athletes who had to bring their A Game to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
GL Events suffered major setbacks due to incredibly harsh weather conditions and had only 15 days to do damage control.
As everyone waded ankle deep through the mud to rebuild the equestrian obstacle course, and with uttelry disrupted production plan, Filmages documented whatever the skies let them. Narrative could only be developed later.
In the end the competition went off without a hitch, and the audience at the GL Events annual convention were blown away by their comeback, heroically featured by our video.
The Black Death: Past, Present & Future of the Plague
The Black Death: Past, Present & Future of the Plague
2008
If you thought that the terrifying plague, the Black Death, was something from the past, here is some not-so-good news.
With the apparition of antibiotic resistant strains, the Plague is currently classified as a re-emerging disease.
The good news is, the folks at Institut Pasteur are hard at work keeping us safe, but there is still a long way to go.
You’ve been warned…
Ocean Trawlers 2007
2007
We quickly discovered that there was something fishy about this project: it was shot over several weeks, in several locations, by several people, and yielded a large amount of footage, with many exposure, grain, and flickering problems.
Yet there was very little time left to edit!
It was our challenge to efficiently organise and edit all of the footage into a cohesive storyline and turn it into a great corporate documentary.
You tell us how we did.
Shechen Clinic - Services presentation
Shechen Clinic - Services presentation
2007
The Shechen Clinic in Kathmandu is a charitable institution helping people in need. Its original feature is that it features allopathic, homeopathic, and traditional Tibetan medicines.
But it also provides many other services such as counselling for those struggling with alcohol and drug abuse, and family planning.
Filmages has been supporting the Karuna-Shechen humanitarian organisation since 2003, including branding, printed material such as brochures, leaflets, annual reports, website, and overall communication strategy.
The Fight Against Infectious Diseases
The Fight Against Infectious Diseases
2005
In the age of attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, 140 max-character IMs, and 15-seconds video clips, watching a 12-minute long documentary might seem like a sizeable task. But there are people who dedicate their lives to saving others, and that doesn't happen in a snap.
Hong Kong University - Pasteur Research Centre needed a corporate documentary to present their latest activities and appeal for research sponsorship. Filmages created a whole set of communication materials, including a brochure, a website, and a 12-minute long video.
This enabled HKU-PRC to secure an endowment fund and further contribute to the fight against infectious diseases.
We also produced a full scale exhibition at HKU Museum and Art Galleries (UMAG) "From the Plague to new Emerging Diseases"
