IDPD
2018
On the 7th consecutive year producing a video for their annual showcase, we kicked things up a notch for Gammon's 60th anniversary.
Looking at the company's future, instead of the past, we focussed on the multifaceted technology of IDPD - Integrated Digital Project Delivery.
Our task was to boil down all this information as concisely and memorably as possible to encapsulate all the digital platforms involved.
We collaborated with multiple departments, managed several stakeholders and worked with different file types.
In fact, our coverage of IDPD was so thorough that some of the stakeholders were not even aware that some of these processes even existed!
Gammon 2030
2017
What does the future hold? What are the major innovations that are going to deeply change the construction industry?
From robots to GammonBot, from exoskeletons to remote-controlled cranes, from 3D concrete printers to virtual dashboard, new technology is coming fast and implementation is on its way to 2030.
Sustainable at its Core
2017
For many Hongkongers, the Murray is more than a familiar sight; it's a living memory, and a dream realised by the architects involved in it's construction and recent renovation.
We revisit interviews with Ron Philips and Colin Ward to remind ourselves, and the audience, how the Murray was designed to hold its place in Hong Kong's ever changing cityscape.
Our People
2016
We love a challenge and Gammon has always made sure to raise the stakes when it comes to testing our shooting and story-telling abilities.
This year we turned our lenses towards the one's who make such iconic infrastructure possible: those unsung heroes, the unamed workers, and their commitment to the Gammon promise.
We used the workers' daily Qigong practice as a storyline, and created a double exposure aesthetic to show them as an essential part of the construction process.

Capturing the blazing speed at which our urban environment is evolving is a rare treat. We felt honoured that, for the 4th year in a row, Gammon asked us to produce a creative presentation of their annual review.
At the time we were weather and authorisation dependent so the shooting stretched over several weeks. But not to worry, right off the bat we created an overall structure that allowed us to build this movie with maximum flexibility.
Combining various techniques such as drone and helicopter aerial filming, timelapses, hyperlapses, steadycam, jib cranes, and many other in-house tricks, we created a piece that illuminated Gammon's technical innovation.
We made it look easy, but we guarantee that (a little) blood and sweat were key components in the making of this movie.

When it comes to a Gammon project, no angle is off-limits.
From a crane tower, 160 meters underground, or high up in the air, we get the shot.

A hike is always challenging, having to hike and shoot is even more challenging. That is what we had to do for Leitner Ropeways, as there are no roads along most of the 5.7km cable car trail. In addition to this we shot all the components of the internal workings of the cable car & strapped a Go Pro to capture the view as if you were in the cable car too.
We then sent all the footage to Leitner, for them to create an edit for all of their cable cars from around the world.
110th Anniversary
2014
In celebration of their 110th anniversary and their long-standing relationship with this great city icon, HK Tramways approached Filmages to produce a series of promotional videos.
You can watch a shorter version of the movie, which was made as an opening trailer for the French Film Festival.

The Gammon Promise
2013
From humble beginnings in 1958 with the construction of a new runway at the Kai Tak Airport, Gammon Construction has weathered more than five decades of market changes, social and economic fluctuations and regional developments that have shaped the modern engineering landscape.
To celebrate 55 years as one of the premier construction companies in Asia, Gammon commissioned Filmages to produce a faithful and vibrant portrait of its remarkable achievements and current activities.
As it goes with construction industry, our crew and gear were put to the test going deep underground to high up in the air in a helicopter.
In Love with the Tram
2013
HK Tramways was bought out in April 2011 by a French JV between RATP (the Parisian MTR) and Véolia Transportation. Most low income people were worried that foreign investment would take advantage and raise fares. The general public was also very worried about the future of their beloved Ding-Ding. So far the new management has been very respectful of the tradition and is doing its best to modernize the fleet whilst remaining the lowest travel fare in Hong Kong.
With a limited budget and enormous logistical constraints due to the nature of the railways lines, Filmages chose to portray the evolution of the city and its architecture by following the same woman through 4 distinct eras:
- Pre-WWII (1904-1945) with elegant Cheongsam or Qipao
- The 50s and 60s, with the emergence of a growing female working force
- The eccentric 70’s
- Modern-day with a natural look with a touch of Chinese silk tradition.
Special thanks to Charlot Kryza (Stylist), Jan (Model) & Jojo (Hair & Make-up)
Another version of that movie was created for the Hong Kong Tramways 110th Anniversary

Jardine’s Pride in Performance Award
2013
This video is part of Gammon’s 2013 submission into the Jardine’s Pride in Performance awards, a group-wide competition, which recognises individual projects and their outstanding achievements.
We wanted to showcase the grandeur of the West Kowloon Station Terminus North project in a more creative manner.
E&M
2012
From data centres to boiler rooms, ventilation to security systems, Gammon’s Electrical and Mechanical division covertly affects numerous aspects of our lives.
We had the opportunity to explore the secret systems meant to be felt - not seen.
We dynamically intertwined motion graphics and interviews to showcase how Gammon E&M connects people and technology with the future.

After commissioning a video presentation for their upcoming seminar, Sonepar gave Filmages some existing material with which to start building a video. But there was not enough to truly represent their global reach as it only focussed on their business in Europe.
Considering that they are represented in 17 Asian countries, this presented a very unbalanced picture. So, with very little time and material available, Filmages decided to redress what we had to create a video that fully exposed the Asian arm of Sonepar.
By adding snapshots of the people who make up the Sonepar Asia operations teams, Filmages produced a video which lifted up the Asia Pacific image on the global management stage.
E-Ho Land
2008
Following our successful collaboration with Korean financial institution on their Hong Kong GMAL office launch, Woori asked us to create this video for a property roadshow.
Since the master plan was still a work in progress, we had to devise a storyline that would highlight the why rather than the how.

Want to fly eco-friendly from Asia to Europe? Fly Finnair!
That's the message we delivered for the rising Finnish airlines.
Well, the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull Iceland volcanic eruption wasn't very eco-friendly or particularly promotional for the northern route, was it?
SkyCity
2004
This is the earliest of Filmages' work. At that time Fred had recently resigned from his previous company, Lemon-Asia, a leading internet design company of which he was partner.
But Fred wanted to move toward video production, and the opportunity came with this movie, produced for the Hong Kong Airport Authority. The airport's extension "SkyCity" was just a prospective project at that time, and HKAA needed a clear explainer video of the project's mass plan and overall circulation. Although our technical capabilities were not in the top tier, the clear and solid flow of our script and storyboard impressed the stakeholders greatly, and we won this project against much more established video production agencies which had placed high-end 3D rendering over content.
Ultimately it helped HKAA to get the go-ahead from government officials.
