Healthy Human Global Project - Hong Kong
Healthy Human Global Project - Hong Kong
2022
"Based in Hong Kong, the Centre for Immunology & Infection, or C2i, is a translational research centre adopting innovative strategies to confront and mitigate the impact of emerging infectious diseases, and transform Hong Kong into a global hub of knowledge and research..."
In time of Covid-19 crisis, long-term research projects might not be the rage, but they are keys for faster and better response for inevitable future pandemics.
We helped C2i to create 2 videos:
1. A public video to call for volunteers to participate to the "Healthy Human Global Project - Hong Kong"
2. A corporate video to present the "Healthy Human Global Project - Hong Kong" to government, academic, partners, and potential staff.
The Bold & the Beautiful
2011
Leaving a rainy Scotland, our hero arrives in Hong Kong, and enjoys the cultural shock before adapting to his new life…
Collaborating with the very talented illustrator Harry Harrison (SCMP, Wall Street Journal), we concentrated all our efforts on animating his two-dimensional drawings.
We intially received them in black and white, then applied various composition tricks to bring elements of cinema to the illustrations. Additionally, we supplied the storyboards, sound effects and Scottish voice over.
Two weeks, roughly 160 drawings and several coffee breaks later, we delivered a unique anniversary video for a private event hosted by Eventsman.
Hitachi Data Systems - Data Storage Management
Hitachi Data Systems - Data Storage Management
2011
Data is flowing faster than many organizations can manage. We produced a teaser video to attract I.T. executives to download a white paper on big data, converged systems, virtualization, cloud computing and so on...
A bit of a dry topic? Well, we managed to develop an original and catchy animation to raise the eyebrows of busy I.T. experts.
Our ITX character is simple, yet tells a rather complex story with basic movements and facial expressions.
One month later; a jazzy tune, casual voice over, an eye-catching color scheme and some delicate transitions bring the Hitachi Data Systems' technical findings to life.
The Amazing Market Race
2010
Pourquery approached Filmages to create an animated video, which would promote their bicycle testing services at the Taiwan bicycle expo. Instead of showing the testing machines, Filmages focussed on the clients' benefits in terms of customs and legal compliances, as well as user safety.
The challenge - capture the attention of visitors to the Pourquery amongst a myriad of visually dynamic colours, carbon and chrome exhibits throughout the expo.
The solution - Filmages proposed the creation of a colourful illustrated video exalting the importance and necessity of product testing, rather than concentrating on the physical act of testing.

Build, Grow, Operate your e-Commerce
Build, Grow, Operate your e-Commerce
2014
E-commerce is not only a sophisticated technology, but also an extremely complicated concept with a lot of moving parts; Online retailing, ad banner administration, consumer behavior tracking, promotional offers, online payments, warehouse management, fulfillment, and much more.
So to add some clarity to the complexity and get ClearGo’s message out loud and clear we used dynamic motion graphics.
Motion graphics helped to represent abstract concepts and give a unified look in line with Cleargo brand identity.
Leadership Meeting APAC 2015 - Results
Leadership Meeting APAC 2015 - Results
2015
During their annual conference, and after the traditional kick-off and welcome messages, the CEO got right down to business.
"Last year we got together, we brainstormed, we devised strategies... we talked a lot. But did we walk the walk? What happened when everyone went back to their desks?"
He left the question pending... and this is when our movie started up.
Leadership Meeting APAC 2015 - Kick-off
Leadership Meeting APAC 2015 - Kick-off
2015
Nowadays most corporate annual meetings start with a kick-off video, then with the Chairman's address. Better than nothing, but still quite old school.
Although not represented in this video for confidentiality reason, we actually wrote the outline of the introduction speech to sync perfectly with the video.
The abstract dimensions of the visual perfectly matched the leadership address. The audience was literally mesmerized by the synchronicity.
My Little Paper, Daily7, Daily 10 - Taxi TVC
My Little Paper, Daily7, Daily 10 - Taxi TVC
2013
How do you pack so much information in a 30 secondes commercial, made to attract kids as well as parents in Hong Kong taxis?
Rule of thumb: Less is more. Part of the information is in the animation, the style, the rhythm, not always in the words.
Wines from the heart
2015
Sopexa and Inter Rhône jointly launched a "Red Emotion" video competition to promote the French Côtes du Rhône wines.
Squeezed in between other important commercial projects we had little time to join.
Eric, who is originally from the Rhône Valley area, decided however to participate, and we gave him our best support.
This movie won first prize; probably because it truly came from the heart?
MAPIC Kick Off Animation 2012
2012
Our challenge put in front of us was to create an eye-catching awards animation. With our model and several motion graphics techniques (can you count how many?). This dynamic mix of concept, direction, individuals and techniques, we created an awards animation that would kick off their ceremony in the best possible way.
20th Anniversary Video
2006
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong we jumped into the past and organised a giant timeline. From the Kai Tak closure to the Octopus Card, from World Cup 98 to SARS; we selected events that struck a chord in the French expatriate community.
But first, to swing into animation we had to source a number of visual elements. Try to count them as you watch the video and you will understand the challenge.
This video was the highlight of the evening, triggering many discussion between the FCCIHK members and their guests.
Let's do the Time Warp again!
MAPIC 2011 Kick Off Animation
2011
We cooked up some anticipation for the Mapic event held in Cannes, France.
To contrast the strict and practical expectations of a corporate evening we came up with an original approach that would surprise and entertain the attendees.
With animation we displayed the award process as a recipe, really attracting the attention of the crowd. Using simple, yet strong design, with some special sound effects, the metaphor lighted some sparkles in the audience and really set the tone for the rest of the night.
Et voilà!
Kiiiiiiids
2012
For this presentation video, we were briefed to create a dynamic and informative video for this charity.
Their aim is to create as many aspiring directors, camera operators and video editors for tomorrow. So of course, this is a project very close to our heart!
This project gave us the opportunity to use different techniques, allowing us to flex our creative muscles.and adopt techniques we wouldn’t have the opportunity to!
Platinum Winner - AVA Awards 2013
MAPIC 2009 Kick Off Animation
2009
We were very honoured to be selected by Reed Midem to produce the opening piece for their commercial retail exhibition MAPIC in Cannes, France.
This high-octane, straight to the point edit reinforced their branding by giving a meaningful twist to their event’s visual.
Cartes in Asia
2011
For the second consecutive year, GL Events commissioned Filmages to produce a short presentation video for Comexposium's “Cartes in Asia Summit” in Hong Kong.
The main topics of this year’s conferences were mobility, payments, smart technologies, digital security and IoT. To catch the audience’s attention immediately, and centralise the human element within the story, we created a kick-off video featuring a hand manipulating smart technologies with various interfaces in everyday situations
The apparently simple animation was based on outline strokes animated using one hand, which required advance motion graphics with a few tailor-made sound effects. The final video was a startling surprise for an audience of tech buffs. It helped the client strenghten its corporate image as an innovative event organizer.
Opening Teaser
2009
For it’s 10th annual event, the HKJFF wanted to make a branded video to raise awareness of the event, using the HKJFF logo as the storyboard foundation.
The HKJFF logo contains three perspectives in it’s design:
1. The Star of David - Historic symbol of the Jewish faith and culture.
2. Audience eyes - Well, it is a film festival.
3. A circle of people holding hands - Bringing the community together for culture, entertainment, and new friends.
From Howard’s storyboard, Filmages developed and choreographed a cast of unique characters, composited, edited, and synched the edit to Carol’s great music.
C’est le Printemps!
2014
My mother told me to never play with my food, but I can't help it...
It was early morning in Istanbul, the city was still surprisingly chilled as the summer heat was about to turn up. I had two hours of quiet all to myself. Bliss...
As I sat in the bar terrace and ordered a turkish coffee, the Owner offered a plate of decadent mille-feuille he had just prepared.
As he sprinkled the icing sugar, I immediately thought about the cute glass penguins I had just bought for my kids.
The idea for a stop-motion animation hit me like a bolt of lightning and tout-de-suite shot the sequence in less than an hour.
Besides, I was too hungry to make myself wait to bite into that crispy pastry any longer
Together with the Filmages Team, we pieced it together as our way to wish you a wonderful and creative Springtime!
Macarons & Petits Fours 2012
2012
How do you fire up a party?
By inviting La Rose Noire's mischievous Mini-macarons and Amuse-bouches!
To promote this new line of finger-food products we created a light-hearted comedy using stop-motion animation to give life to bit-size delicacies.
We wish we could say that no Macaron was harmed in the making of this video, but that wouldn't be true. Stop-motion animation takes time, a lot of time, and we had to frequently relieve the "actors" from duty.
Cosmo Supply Lab
2013
The Challenge: Cosmo Supply Lab is a leading manufacturer of mix-material accessories, mostly for “The Forbidden Fruit Which Shall Not Be Named”.
So we had to show without showing, explain without being specific, demonstrate without end products, yet convince - uncompromisingly.
The Solution: We borrowed from the craft of magicians who are always attracting the audience's attention to distract from what should not be visible. We carefully worked out the frame and camera moves, and added dynamic visual effects to work out the magic.
Kroos - The Movie
Lâncome - Black Carat
2008
Producing in-store promos may seem like a pretty straightforward job: Client provides visual elements, we develop a storyboard, client sends us some feedback, we fine-tune and finalise it shortly thereafter– no major technical difficulty there, so that should be it!
However the devil is in the details, and even more so for the cosmetics industry.
Understandably, whenever there is a big, new blockbuster product coming out getting global communication to follow the product guidelines is a daunting task. On the other hand our assignment was to create something unique, exclusive for Asia-Pacific.
So, with little room to maneuver, we managed to create a visually attractive animation and successfully surpassed the brand-guardian's approval.

Le French May 2008
2008
Le French May is one of Hong Kong’s largest celebrations of a foreign culture with hundreds of artists and performers making the journey from France to share their talents with Hong Kong.
In order to promote the headline acts, the Hong Kong audience first needed an introduction as most are not that well-known. Taking photos and footage of the featured, Filmages designed a slick, sexy animation sequence for each category, adding clips and photos of the acts throughout.
At the Client’s request we created 30, 60 and 180-second versions that were used in a variety of press conferences, TV ad campaigns, and internet marketing.
Et voila!
Elle Style Awards 2007
2007
Behind the glamour of an evening filled with celebrities, models, actors, and singers, events like the Elle Style Awards need to be flawless.
Through a meticulous but flexible design process we successfully created graphic animations for the 25+ requested nominees and awards recipients, even as information arrived late or was re-shuffled by the client literally at the last minute.
Lâncome - Cyclades
2007
Outside of Europe many people do not know about The Cyclades, one of the many cluseters of Greek Islands.
So when Lancôme asked us to make a video for their new Cyclades fragrance we needed to communicate the serene, tranquil beaches, blue skies, fresh air, and, of course, elegance of the Aegean Sea.
With watercolor paints and a scanner we designed a fresh, vibrant setting for the floral unveiling of Cyclades. When watched by staff and customers alike, the video puts imagery to emotion in a previously unknown place.
Ask them now about The Cyclades, and they'll have a lot to say!
Friends are Life’s Best Reward
Friends are Life’s Best Reward
2007
We rarely do private events, but Jacques Boissier is a good friend of ours.
Jacques is a Frenchman, and is a keen diver; the ultimate frogman, as some might say.
Now here's the special part: We took photos of his friends during the cocktail party, edited them in to the video during the dinner, and showed the video just before dessert, ending the night on a high note.
Needless to say the attendees were pleased by the animation, and even more amazed to see themselves in the video.
Love Unlimited Edition
2010
Lift music is difficult enough to ignore, but a lift video is impossible to escape.
VIP box wanted to make a splash and reach a wealthy captive audience in Grade A building elevators with their Valentine's special.
The challenge was, lift rides don't last very long and VIP Box wanted to fit a big load of information in to the allocated 15-seconds.
Our motion-graphics skills allowed us to deliver a big punch in a short time.
