Gala Le Centenaire
2018
When Le Souvenir Français approached us to create a movie for their annual gala fundraising dinner we knew that it was going to be a tough sell.
Look around, war memorials and the wellbeing of ex-servicemen are not exactly hot topics at the moment.
So we put our communication skills into action to help a cause that gives back to those who honoured their country in their service.
The fundraising efforts were a great success when our little Paul and Mei characters turned an otherwise formal dinner upside down and struck a strong emotional chord in the audience.

When you're passionate about your work, there's little that can stand in the way of your dreams, and our Client, La Rose Noire, has carried this youthful optimism with them everyday for over 25 years.
We wanted to tell the world of their triumphs with the exact same energy, and what better way than working with sparkling on-screen and voice over talents.
Of course, our production schedule had to keep the same pace! From pre to post, production was wrapped in 4 weeks just in time for our Client's presentation and the holiday season for Filmages.

Our productions generally require a mid-size crew of 3 to 8 people.
With so many booths with so little time, and only a cameraman and an assistant assigned, would the "Filmages Lite" crew be up to the task of capturing the vibrant wine-hub of South East Asia?
The result speaks for itself...

Whether you're a customer, a competitor, or even a video production house; keeping up with a fast-paced business like La Rose Noire requires a lot of stamina!
Additional product lines, expansion of their Passion retail brand and overall improvement of their business practices meant that we needed to produce an equally energetic video to do their success justice.
Chocolate 2016
2016
La Rose Noire has grown in every direction over the years, and Filmages joined them on a journey back to where it all began.
This movie presented a unique challenge as we documented a complex subject over several countries with lots of different elements, and people, involved. We needed to balance a lot of information to stay in control of the story.
Aside from understanding the technical elements of the chocolate making process, we kept focus on the core message - why La Rose Noire chose to make their own couverture.

How could we turn a classic case of corporate need into a piece of entertainment? How could we engage an audience of existing customers with the details of the whole of La Rose Noire's processes?
We turned the story upside down! Instead of highlighting the positive points of production, we lead the audience into a dramatic exploration of LRN operations from the perspective of hired investigators.
For what was a rather dark movie, we had to come up with a positive resolution to ensure the audience came away informed and satisfied.
Foundation 2016

Instead of creating a standard corporate video, we took this as an opportunity to create something that would allow the Client to stand out in the market place.
Having 2 days to shoot the 3 parts meant that we needed to plan and storyboard each video, for the most effective use of the time allowed.
But with 3 separate storyboards being conceptualized, meant we would have to create 3 unique viral videos that could stand alone, yet, be used and make coherent sense as a trilogy.

Very talented fresh-grads eager to show that the world is their oyster and Hong Kong attracts some of the best. Many of them have astounding results and have made substantial contributions to their hosting companies.
To recognise these young people the Conseillers du Commerce devised a competition, reviewed all submissions thoroughly, and put on a grand Award Ceremony event at the consulate's residence.
Insight, Inspire, Influence
2011
The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong commissioned Filmages to create an upbeat promotional video to point out 2 main trends: the growth of their members (755) and the FCCIHK strong appeal to non-French companies aiming to deepen ties with French businesses. Filmages came up with the idea of filming interviews outdoor to give a feel of involvement of French businesses in the city. Also Filmages developed a narrative continuity through a well-prepared script that would link each sequence with one another.
Right from the start, Filmages sets the mood with speedy shots of busy streets of Hong Kong as a place of global exchanges. Next step is to illustrate the “French layer” in Hong Kong with a strong presence of French leaders in key sectors such as infrastructure, banking, environment, food and beverage, logistics etc. Last but not least, come the actions and services proposed by the FCCIHK. The whole process finds its logic with the 17 interviewees filmed on the field. They were FCCIHK members or FCCIHK staff, ready to confidently convey the message of an active and successful French business community supported by the FCCIHK.
Although August offered a surprisingly bad weather and that everyone was not back from holiday yet we managed to shoot all the interviews within 3 weeks. Post-production included the editing, the music integration and rotoscoping of 3 shots to integrate key words (insight, inspire, influence) as well as sound mix and color grading. The video was ready to reveal its impact at the FCCIHK Annual Dinner.

20th Anniversary Video
2006
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong we jumped into the past and organised a giant timeline. From the Kai Tak closure to the Octopus Card, from World Cup 98 to SARS; we selected events that struck a chord in the French expatriate community.
But first, to swing into animation we had to source a number of visual elements. Try to count them as you watch the video and you will understand the challenge.
This video was the highlight of the evening, triggering many discussion between the FCCIHK members and their guests.
