MIPIM Asia 2017
2017
A showcase of engaging speakers, impactful networking opportunities, and celebrating outstanding property development projects in the Asia Pacific region, Filmages has felt at home covering the MIPIM Asia conference since 2007.
The energy was palpable throughout the two-day event as we interviewed key opinion leaders and captured the startup awards gala dinner to wrap up another successful convention.
Swiss Economic Forum
2016
Being invited as a major speaker to the Swiss Economic Forum is nothing short of prestigious, and usually the SEF produces the guest's biopic introduction themselves.
But Gerard Dubois preferred to take his portrayal in his own hands, or rather, to put it in ours.
Having already produced several films for LRN we had to stick to the provided SEF guidelines, but could produce a much more creative and richly documented video portrait.
MIPIM Asia Promo 2014
2014
In this promo we enhanced the action by framing the footage with motion graphics during post-production.
By including notable, million-dollar faces in property development, we highlighted some of the many opportunities to be found at MIPIM Asia.
Aim High, Think Big
2014
Being nominated in 3 categories at the prestigious the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) 2014 Annual Awards is quite an achievement, but this was only the beginning for Knight Frank because they only had days to piece together their 45-second video submission per category nomination.
We got a call just a week before Chinese New Year. That’s right; THE Chinese New Year that paralyses the entire region for a full week. By experience we knew that submissions would be judged on hard facts contained in the printed submission. However, we knew that we had to create something fresh and bold for the fastidious jury panel. Moreover, win or lose, we wanted the videos to steal the show!
So we proposed to intertwine 3 athletic disciplines with the 3 categories in order to surprise, delight, and leave a long-lasting impression. It was a risky pitch, but we were pleasantly surprised to receive the full trust and creative support from KF.
“Big thanks to you and your team in producing such high quality videos! We got two [out of three] of the awards nailed – Residential and the Professional Services. The videos were the talk of the town last night and we received big compliments in terms of our out-of-the-box presentation of our teams.”
Natalie Tsui, Head of Marketing & Communications - Knight Frank
Jacob iBear
2013
Tak Mei Toys called us in to help during the conceptual stage of their new product: Jacob iBear.
Filmages took the opportunity to develop a video that would bring all of Jacob iBear's features to life to stand out to their customers. You need more than a powerpoint presentation to informative as well as entertain your audience.
A combination of cinematography, motion graphics, voice over and some adorable children created a video that could stand on it's own during an internal or external presentation.
Christmas with Charlie Bear
2012
The challenge set by the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong was relatively simple:
1) Shoot a highly ambitious, yet low budget project
2) At 7 different locations, including 2 Michelin Starred restaurants
3) In the course of a single day without creating any disturbance to their guests or operations
We proposed to bring Charlie Bear to life without using any 3D artifice to maintain the human element and the holiday feel.
This project required a meticulous storyboard and tight management of our production schedule.
We had five different bear puppets, each with different movement capabilities such as walking down a staircase, using chopsticks, or diving in a pool.
The proceeds of the Charlie Bear sales were given to the Hong Kong Cancer Fund

Datasource International, is a company who specializes in translation services. They contacted Filmages to help them develop a new brand campaign with video as a spearheading component.
Instead of creating a standard corporate video, we took this as an opportunity to create something that would allow the Client to stand out in the market place.
Having 2 days to shoot the 3 parts meant that we needed to plan and storyboard each video, for the most effective use of the time allowed.
But with 3 separate storyboards being conceptualized, meant we would have to create 3 unique viral videos that could stand alone, yet, be used and make coherent sense as a trilogy.

For this presentation video, we were briefed to create a dynamic and informative video for this charity.
Their aim is to create as many aspiring directors, camera operators and video editors for tomorrow. So of course, this is a project very close to our heart!
This project gave us the opportunity to use different techniques, allowing us to flex our creative muscles.and adopt techniques we wouldn’t have the opportunity to!

There are many people who might think Bakery and Pastry are easy; just add the ingredients in correct quantities, mix, bake, serve; et voilà! - Not quite.
The fine art of French Bakery and Pastry is about crafting each product down to the smallest details. And that is what makes La Rose Noire operations so fascinating; Industrial scale yet genuinely handcrafted.
So to produce this movie we had to first observe, and then humbly learn to see from the eye's of this industry.
We brought in a strong storyline, a touch of poetry and humour.
The resulting movie was extremely well received by LRN customers world-wide and this translated in a noticeable increase in sales.

In this tongue-in-cheek video we started from the real life nightmare of any client, leading to AsiaPack as the savior solution.
The video is so effective that 10 years after production AsiaPack is still using it daily!

Hitachi Data Systems - Data Storage Management
2011
Data is flowing faster than many organizations can manage. We produced a teaser video to attract I.T. executives to download a white paper on big data, converged systems, virtualization, cloud computing and so on...
A bit of a dry topic? Well, we managed to develop an original and catchy animation to raise the eyebrows of busy I.T. experts.
Our ITX character is simple, yet tells a rather complex story with basic movements and facial expressions.
One month later; a jazzy tune, casual voice over, an eye-catching color scheme and some delicate transitions bring the Hitachi Data Systems' technical findings to life.

Leaving a rainy Scotland, our hero arrives in Hong Kong, and enjoys the cultural shock before adapting to his new life…
Collaborating with the very talented illustrator Harry Harrison (SCMP, Wall Street Journal), we concentrated all our efforts on animating his two-dimensional drawings.
We intially received them in black and white, then applied various composition tricks to bring elements of cinema to the illustrations. Additionally, we supplied the storyboards, sound effects and Scottish voice over.
Two weeks, roughly 160 drawings and several coffee breaks later, we delivered a unique anniversary video for a private event hosted by Eventsman.

Cartes in Asia
2011
For the second consecutive year, GL Events commissioned Filmages to produce a short presentation video for Comexposium's “Cartes in Asia Summit” in Hong Kong.
The main topics of this year’s conferences were mobility, payments, smart technologies, digital security and IoT. To catch the audience’s attention immediately, and centralise the human element within the story, we created a kick-off video featuring a hand manipulating smart technologies with various interfaces in everyday situations
The apparently simple animation was based on outline strokes animated using one hand, which required advance motion graphics with a few tailor-made sound effects. The final video was a startling surprise for an audience of tech buffs. It helped the client strenghten its corporate image as an innovative event organizer.

This segment is one of nine movies Filmages produced for UK Trade & Investment’s “Business Opportunities in Asia-Pacific” campaign.
Our challenge was that we had only 2 days to shoot in each country over a 4-week period. During this time we endured the rapidly changing Asian summer monsoon season. Surviving no less than 4 typhoons, we directed the interviews in a plethora of places, skillfully managing our shooting schedule throughout these chaotic conditions.
Additionally, editing each segment to promote the uniqueness of each country, finding 8 music tracks to mach, whilst maintaining the overall consistency of the series was a tough nut to crack. Eventually, the entire post-production process for the 9 edits was then completed in 8 weeks.
“Very passionate, creative and dedicated team with lots of ideas and suggestions. We are very pleased and impressed with the video teasers Filmages has done for us. Two thumbs up.” Meeta Dancel, Marketing Manager – UK Trade & Investment, Asia Pacific & South Africa
Bamboo Schools
2010
Continuing its support for Matthieu Ricard’s global humanitarian organization, Karuna Shechen, Filmages produced a short documentary featuring the low-cost, high-educational impact of Bamboo Schools.
The goal of the Bamboo Schools project is to bring education to children from disadvantaged communities in Nepal. Beginning in 2000, the project now operates 8 Bamboo Schools, of which 3 have been built with Karuna Shechen’s financial aid, providing free education to around 15,000 students.
The film follows the initiator of this project explaining his life’s mission, and how, with a little help from some friends, he can change the future for many Nepalese children.

For the 4th consecutive year, Filmages helped Reed MIDEM consolidate its position as a leader in real estate in the Asia Pacific region through its flagship exhibition, MIPIM Asia.
Filmages was once again commissioned to provide a complete video service package for their annual event at the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Amazing Market Race
2010
Pourquery approached Filmages to create an animated video, which would promote their bicycle testing services at the Taiwan bicycle expo. Instead of showing the testing machines, Filmages focussed on the clients' benefits in terms of customs and legal compliances, as well as user safety.
The challenge - capture the attention of visitors to the Pourquery amongst a myriad of visually dynamic colours, carbon and chrome exhibits throughout the expo.
The solution - Filmages proposed the creation of a colourful illustrated video exalting the importance and necessity of product testing, rather than concentrating on the physical act of testing.

Graphic Village
2009
Design art in Hong Kong just got a feel for quirky Parisian-style with the “Antoine+Manuel Graphic Village” presentation at the Shatin Heritage Museum.
Prolific Parisian graphic artists Antoine Audiau and Manuel Warosz had their first ever exhibition in Hong Kong. It reminded us of the “It’s a Small World” ride at Disneyland, only edgier and critter-free!
"Through our works, people can leave all their worries and concerns of the outside world behind for a moment, and enter a fun-filled and joyful world [sic], feeling like a child,” said Warosz.
Our challenge was to shoot and edit this video to best represent the experience of their exuberant, oddball style under the spotlight with larger-than-life exhibits "typographic room" and all-white 3D geometric constructions.
