    AIRSIDE

    2024

Hip Hing has constructed a stunning landmark in the rezoned Kai Tak Area.
AIRSIDE, Nan Fung's flagship development, pays homage to the former bustling Kai Tak Airport, which was decommissioned in 1997. Situated at the heart of Hong Kong's CBD 2.0, AIRSIDE features a 47-storey mixed-use building with Grade A offices and a multi-storey retail complex with a new urban lifestyle concept that offers experiential retail and leisure spaces. As the tallest building in Kai Tak, it provides unparalleled views of Victoria Harbour.
Hip Hing employed advanced construction technology to successfully complete this demanding project that places a strong emphasis on sustainability.

Filmages was tasked with capturing the essence of this landmark within a short timeframe. Utilizing indoor and outdoor aerial videography, they were able to deliver an immersive walk-through experience, showcasing the unique features and ambiance of AIRSIDE.

    2021

Filmages is proud to have contributed to the celebration of Hip Hing's 60th Anniversary by producing this inspiring movie testament to the resilience through time of their amazing people.

Filmed through 2020-21 Covid-19 crisis we had to adapt our workflow to comply to all necessary safety compliance.
It also involved climing a 70m high crane, setting up a badmington court on a rooftop, shooting arrows in the sea, and mostly being extremely flexible to adapt to ever-changing situations.

    The challenge:
45,000 meters of E&M service pipes to install in an underwater tunnel narrow service gallery.

    Gammon's solution:
DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) modules fabrication and installation.

For Filmages the challenge was to sift through very complex technical documents and create a simplified yet faithful storyline.

    2020

It has been an industry headache for a long time to get sufficient and early power supply from utilities companies to power all equipments on a construction site.
Gammon worked together with startup company Ampd Energy to produced Enertainer.
The Ampd Enertainer is an advanced battery system designed as a one-for-one, drop-in substitute for a traditional construction diesel generator.
Basically, the largest battery we had ever seen.

And yes, it can power your smartphone for the next few centuries.

    MIC - Modular Integrated Construction

    2019

How to reduce carbon emission, provide controlled and safer conditions for workers, guarantee production timeline, and address aging construction workforce?
Gammon produced for CIC (Construction Industry Council) this MIC (Modular Integrated Construction) demon and exhibition building to prove the concept, share best practice, and hopefully convince key players.

On our side that meant filming high and low in Mainland China and Hong Kong, installing a 3 days timelapse camera on barge boat, and many sleepless nights.

IDPD - Integrated Digital Project Delivery

    2018

On the 7th consecutive year producing a video for their annual showcase, we kicked things up a notch for Gammon's 60th anniversary.

Looking at the company's future, instead of the past, we focussed on the multifaceted technology of IDPD - Integrated Digital Project Delivery.

Our task was to boil down all this information as concisely and memorably as possible to encapsulate all the digital platforms involved.

We collaborated with multiple departments, managed several stakeholders and worked with different file types.

In fact, our coverage of IDPD was so thorough that some of the stakeholders were not even aware that some of these processes even existed!

    2018

From time to time our videographers undergo an event coverage endurance challenge and MIPIM Asia is a workout we look forward to every year.

Besides capturing the usual networking and key note speakers, we also joined the after party celebrations at the Grand Hyatt.

Although the brief has hardly changed over the years the key to covering these events is to be spacially aware, especially when so many activities over so many days blur into one.

The Remaking of an Iconic Landmark

    2016

In 1969 the then British Administration of Hong Kong commissioned young architect Ron Philips to design what was to become a major post-modernist landmark.

How The Murray was to become a flagship of luxury brand's Niccolo Hotels was left to us to show and tell, using a bespoke mix of interviews, timelapses and breathtaking drone shots to create this pre-opening movie.

    Our People

    2016

We love a challenge and Gammon has always made sure to raise the stakes when it comes to testing our shooting and story-telling abilities.

This year we turned our lenses towards the one's who make such iconic infrastructure possible: those unsung heroes, the unamed workers, and their commitment to the Gammon promise.

We used the workers' daily Qigong practice as a storyline, and created a double exposure aesthetic to show them as an essential part of the construction process.

Innovate and Excel - 2015 in review

    2015

Capturing the blazing speed at which our urban environment is evolving is a rare treat. We felt honoured that, for the 4th year in a row, Gammon asked us to produce a creative presentation of their annual review.
At the time we were weather and authorisation dependent so the shooting stretched over several weeks. But not to worry, right off the bat we created an overall structure that allowed us to build this movie with maximum flexibility.

Combining various techniques such as drone and helicopter aerial filming, timelapses, hyperlapses, steadycam, jib cranes, and many other in-house tricks, we created a piece that illuminated Gammon's technical innovation.
We made it look easy, but we guarantee that (a little) blood and sweat were key components in the making of this movie.

    SkyCity

    2004

This is the earliest of Filmages' work. At that time Fred had recently resigned from his previous company, Lemon-Asia, a leading internet design company of which he was partner.
But Fred wanted to move toward video production, and the opportunity came with this movie, produced for the Hong Kong Airport Authority. The airport's extension "SkyCity" was just a prospective project at that time, and HKAA needed a clear explainer video of the project's mass plan and overall circulation. Although our technical capabilities were not in the top tier, the clear and solid flow of our script and storyboard impressed the stakeholders greatly, and we won this project against much more established video production agencies which had placed high-end 3D rendering over content.
Ultimately it helped HKAA to get the go-ahead from government officials.
