To feature the decoration elements we choreographed our camera moves to be wholly zeitgeisty.

If you think that mixing the perfect cocktail is an art, try filming a series of "how to make... " cocktail videos.

Focus on the female mixologist... Not masculine enough
Feature the whole back-lit glass wall with bottle display… Too wide
Show the ingredients in extreme macro… Too close
Too many details... Not enough step-by-step information

Fortunately Filmages came to the rescue, shaken not stirred.

Many companies try to be more socially responsible.
Million dollar question is: What to do?
It seems that the answer point in the direction of: everything counts, and La Rose Noire has been working hard at it.
That might seems all nice but that made our task explaining it all very very complicated because organising their myriad of actions in a strictly logical order just wouldn’t work.
Our creative logic ended up with a Polar Bear, a Baby Boss, and other wacky concepts.
But it works!

Given the proximity to the lush hillside and the Shing Mun River, I envisioned the start of the guest journey with a double-volume height lobby, filled with natural light..."

While the Alva Hotel was still under construction with large parts still bare concrete we produced this soft-sale creative promotion for the Alva Hotel with star interior designer Norman Chan.

This included aerial shots that had to wait for last-minute-to-edit due to the construction elements still visible from the sky.
Those aerial shots had to be carefully rotoscoped and colour graded to make the building stand out from the summer humidity fog.
Oh, and we may have had to romaticized the delicated colour palette of the the Shing Mun River's waters...

While the Alva Hotel was still under construction with large parts still bare concrete we produced this soft-sale creative promotion for the Alva Hotel with star architect Daiji Chikuba.
The production included also filming birds "angling their wings carefully", which turned to be a lot more challenging than PR and Marketing could possibly imagine...

Challenge accepted.

It has been an industry headache for a long time to get sufficient and early power supply from utilities companies to power all equipments on a construction site.
Gammon worked together with startup company Ampd Energy to produced Enertainer.
The Ampd Enertainer is an advanced battery system designed as a one-for-one, drop-in substitute for a traditional construction diesel generator.
Basically, the largest battery we had ever seen.

And yes, it can power your smartphone for the next few centuries.

R: The videographer has to give the talents a convincing scratch Waltz course in less than 15 min.

How to reduce carbon emission, provide controlled and safer conditions for workers, guarantee production timeline, and address aging construction workforce?
Gammon produced for CIC (Construction Industry Council) this MIC (Modular Integrated Construction) demon and exhibition building to prove the concept, share best practice, and hopefully convince key players.

On our side that meant filming high and low in Mainland China and Hong Kong, installing a 3 days timelapse camera on barge boat, and many sleepless nights.

The right talent make all the difference! We were fighting against Nature when a typhoon came crashing down on our shoot.

We had to adapt fast; turning our camera angles away from the falling rain, adjusting the lighting to make up for the gloom outside and then applying every colour-correcting trick we know during post-production.

Although it's not always fun and games we want this is kind of energy in front of the camera, as well as behind. 

Not many people know this, but Gaddi's is the first restaurant in Hong Kong to introduce the Chef's table where guests can experience the service in an otherwise closed kitchen.

We collaborated with the Peninsula team to showcase their impeccable fine-dining restaurant with snapshots of staff serving and interacting with guests along with closeups of the tantalising dishes. 

Drums and dragons and lions - oh my! 

In the 15 years we have been filming in Hong Kong, there is not much that compares to getting amongst the Chinese New Year celebrations. 

When you are tasked to capture all this vibrant energy we were definitely spoiled for choice at The Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong with 10 lions, a dragon and a dozen drummers filling their hotel lobby. 

On the 7th consecutive year producing a video for their annual showcase, we kicked things up a notch for Gammon's 60th anniversary.

Looking at the company's future, instead of the past, we focussed on the multifaceted technology of IDPD - Integrated Digital Project Delivery.

Our task was to boil down all this information as concisely and memorably as possible to encapsulate all the digital platforms involved.

We collaborated with multiple departments, managed several stakeholders and worked with different file types.

In fact, our coverage of IDPD was so thorough that some of the stakeholders were not even aware that some of these processes even existed!

As an architectural icon, the Murray Hotel Arches are an ideal location with so many eye-catching angles to choose from.

In preparation for the Fendi fashion catwalk, we collected timelapses of the construction and trial run of the event setup to highlight the versatility of this space.

The startup company, Nivose, needed to showcase their winter athleisure fashion for a crowdfunding campaign on the French platform, Ulule.

But, there was no actual collection to feature! So how could we create an eye-catching promo video without any products?

Luckily, we were given 2 prototype styles of winter jacket and some old posters of the original Nivose branding from 1936.

With these in hand we told the legacy of their brand name using a creative mix of vintage graphic styles and green screen technology.

Over the years we have become experts at filming technical processes, whilst working within the restrictions that maintain their safety and scheduling. 

We worked closely with the Star Rapid team to accurately depict their prototyping and low-volume manufacturing business in China.

After a thorough pre-production planning stage, we ensured our 2-day shoot ran without a hitch as we filmed every process in their factory with equally keen eyes.

We wanted their expertise to speak for itself by combining staff and client interviews, and complementing their high-tech equipment with smooth motion graphic captions and discreet 3D motion tracking.

The glory of unveiling a hotel is highlighting the efforts that go into bringing such luxury experiences to their guests.

Filmages often go behind the scenes to capture these moments; mood lighting, place setting and a whole lot of teamwork!

Although it may seem simple to film an empty box, we creatively used timelapses, camera angles and visual tricks to truly showcase the flexibility of the Murray Hotel's ballroom.

In times when large corporations continue to push profits ahead of ethics, it's always heartwarming to watch La Rose Noire support their workers and the community through CSR and charitable activities.

We documented the La Rose Noire Foundation vocational training programmes by interviewing the students, alumni and employers.

Besides capturing moments from their latest graduation ceremony, our cameraman found out what it felt like to be totally covered in bees! 

To the newly weds and soon-to-be weds, which do you think is more strenuous; arranging a wedding or staging a fake one? 

Of course the answer is the former! Our Client recognised the lengths people are willing to go to fulfil their dream nuptials, so we went even further to recreate that experience.

Just like a true partnership, we worked in close collaboration to source a glowing cast and put them in full wedding attire to pull "the Big Day" together.
