Networking on Filmages' initiative

With the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit, Filmages has launched a networking group: “The French Media & Audiovisual Professionals in Hong Kong” aiming to gather the French professionals working in the field of media & audiovisual communication and based in Hong Kong. The purpose of this group of about 25 persons is to build an active network to exchange information and share of experiences. We are photographers, journalists, directors, producers, distributors etc. Our group’s mission is also to make this community of talented French audiovisual professionals more visible on the Hong Kong market.

Last week we had Mr. Eric Riewer, International Relations Manager at L’Ecole des Gobelins in Paris, as our special guest. Eric Riewer was in Hong Kong for the IFVA who has invited him and a alumni from Gobelins to hold a lecture and presentation of animated films directed by Gobelins’ students.

Filmages is fan of the Mail Hub plug-in

The Filmages team really loves this plug-in for Apple Mail which helps sorting out your email box effortlessly. It is simple to install with an additional tool bar, very easy to use. It has changed the way we deal with numerous incoming emails. It allows filing mails by thread or by sender. And it has a powerful search function as well as a reminder option updating your iCal calendar automatically.

The development of such a relevant tool is worth following. So we have committed to take the role as one of its beta testers. Check it out and we bet that you will appreciate it as much as we do.

Filmages helps overseas crew to film in Hong Kong

Filmages operated as a production fixer for the Hong Kong shooting of the TV documentary “For Women in Science 2011” produced for L’Oréal by Froggies Media, based in Paris. The crew came to Hong Kong for 4 days and filmed the portrait of Professor Vivian Wing-Wah Yam, one of the 5 Laureates of the international award For Women in Science from the Fondation L’Oréal-UNESCO. This prize helps raise recognition of women’s work in scientific fields and aims to make science more accessible to women. Prof. Yam focuses her research on solar energy at the Chemistry Department of the University of Hong Kong.


Filmages provided support on site to the crew by organizing the location scouting, additional manpower and technical support obtaining authorizations and taking care of all issues involved by the coordination. Given the tight schedule, Filmages production fixer made it possible for the crew to film in locations as various as a primary school, at the Hong Kong University, on sport courts, at Prof. Yam’s home, in a traditional Chinese restaurant, on the waterfront promenade during the light show, on the star ferry, and in the busy streets of Hong Kong.

Filmages released a 9 video series for UK Trade & Investment

How do you convince UK SMEs to make the first step towards Asia-Pacific? With tight schedule and limited budget, that’s the challenge Filmages had to address while shooting 9 short “Business Opportunities in Asia-Pacific” videos for UK Trade & Investment agency.

The Asia Pacific marketing office of the UK Trade & Investment, a government agency helping UK-based companies access the overseas markets and vice-versa, selected Filmages for a very challenging project: produce a series of 9 short films presenting the growth opportunities for UK companies in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Filmages helps French Design to export in Asia

Last November our team was called to the rescue to cover the IDTE (Inno Design Tech Expo). We had very little instructions about what the final outcome should be.

Thanks to our reportage expertise, in a really short timeframe we were able to provide the client with a very comprehensive coverage of the exhibition. With a good balance of sound interviews, dynamic footage, various cutaways, and impeccable log sheet, the editing team back in France had plenty of options to work with efficiently.
